Well, the letter came. Now the push is on tithing -- 10% of God's blessing to
be assumed by the local church.
Issues with this are plentifold: apparently there is an over $ll k monthly due
on the mortgage. The building of the church wasn't without its lack of
fiduciary integrity (reportedly up to three times over six digits disappeared
... no one pressed charges, so it became an easy cash cow for whoever volunteered to help handle the money ... easy come easy go, and Christians
turned the other cheek on the issue). Then there's the elevator funds that go
upline to leadership and overseas for the discretionary spending and
distribution of the mother church.
The other arms of church support are festivals, auctions, fundraisers, the
various elite pocketbooks in this or that prestigious who's who club, and hall
rentals and share of cost of use fees for the church for those coming for the
occasional special event (baptism, funerals, and weddings - from %500) -- there is no option
to use the priest outside the church to bypass the share of cost, the priest
cannot do a funeral at a funeral home, a baptism at a home, or a wedding in a
park ... he is consigned to the council and only part of its menu.
Any other church compensating for loss of parishioners, trust and money?
And in what way is it being handled?
In Christ,
Photini
