George,
So is it safe to assume that you believe that any time a lawsuit is filed, whether or not it has merit (as the OCL lawsuit cleaqrly did not), it is a scandal? Have you ever been suied? Justly or unjustly? Is that a scandal?
As I originally stated, it is scandalous that OCL members chose to file such a frivalous lawsuit against the Church, but that is an OCL scandal, not the Churches scandalin the same way the OCA and AOCA have had scandals.
Please go look up the Church of Crete. The set up is virtually identical as the GOA. The Metropolitans do not have sufragen bishops, also look up the Church of Greece. Her metropolitans do not have suffragan bishops. The Slavic tradition is different, but the GOA does not follow the Slavic tradition, so it was quite logical for Her bishops to be bad metropolitans follwing the tradition in the Greek (in this case used as opposed to Slavic) Churches.
Of course all bishops are equal ecclesiologically, but that is not the point in this discussion. The mets were not elevated to "buy their silence" as you accused.
