George, I understand your point all too well. The OCL folks decided to file a frivalous lawsuit in an effort to cost the archdiocese lot's-o-money. While thousands may have cheered them on, tens of thousands think it was shamefull. If you want to call it a scandal, then call it what it was the "OCL frivalous lawsuit scandal" not the GOA Charter scandal as Fr. Vlahos does in order to serve his twisted purpose.
I would also point out that the metropolises in Crete and Greece are not "extinct mountaintops" but rather vibrant, active metropolises. Likewise the metropolises in the US are larger and more populous than any of the "diocese" or "archdiocese" of the other jurisdictions. In fact, I think an argument could be made that population wise, the Metropolis of Chicago or NY or SF may very well be larger that the entire OCA or AOCA. I believe the same could probably be said for Toronto and maybe even Atlanta and New Jersey. So naming them metropolises, was quite logical. At the very elast it shows that your allegatuion that they were elevated to "buy their silence" is just plain folly.
