"We have concluded that when the principle of phyletism (i.e. ecclesiastical nationalism) is juxtaposed with the teaching of the Gospel and the constant practice of the Church, it is not only foreign to it, but also completely opposed, to it. We decree the following in the Holy Spirit: 1. We reject and condemn racial division, that is, racial differences, national quarrels and disagreements in the Church of Christ, as being contrary to the teaching of the Gospel and the holy canons of our blessed fathers, on which the holy Church is established and which adorn human society and lead it to Divine piety. 2. In accordance with the holy canons, we proclaim that those who accept such division according to races and who dare to base on it hitherto unheard-of racial assemblies are foreign to the One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church and are real schismatics." Re: Hopes rising for unifying Orthodoxy's U.S. churches

Orthodox Christians in the U.S. must establish a united American Orthodox Church -- not tomorrow, but today.

Worshipers in the nine separate Orthodox jurisdictions in the U.S. have been waiting for decades -- far too long -- for this formation to occur.

I suggest that this process for unity begin now, with the autocephalous Orthodox Church in America (OCA) and the autonomous American Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese uniting, and allowing other American Orthodox jurisdictions to join.

The Patriarchs of the Orthodox motherland countries and the Patriarch of Constantinople need to accept the fact that Orthodox Christians in the United States are American citizens. They are not citizens of Greece, Serbia, Russia, or any other foreign country. They are Americans.

Consequently, Orthodox Christians in America need to establish a united American Orthodox Church. Christ did not want His Church divided into various ethnic subdivisions, but wanted one Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. It is essential that American Orthodox Christians now comply with the Word of Christ.
