I think it is important for children to grow up around pets, but how old should my children be before we bring a puppy home?
I have always loved shelties and I have seen how gentle and sweet they can be with small children. I'd like to get a puppy next summer (probably June, 2006). How far in advance do breeders plan their litters usually?
Also, how high does my fence need to be to contain a sheltie (is a 4 foot fence high enough?) and how large does my fenced yard need to be for the dog to have enough room?
