The Scarab being sentient is either parasitic in nature or slavery either for the host or for the parasite. I'd must rather it be a symbiotic relationship than one doing what the other is told, wouldn't you?

: It would have to be, wouldn't it? A fully
: functioning Reach scarab would fuse with a
: host's spine and then take over to carry out
: the Reach's orders. It would have to be an
: artificial intelligence with safety
: protocols and overrides to keep iy acting
: like the Reach wants. Now on Earth, Shazam
: messed that up with magic. Part of the
: scarab's programming ended up in Peacemaker
: and Jaime's left with a scarab than can do
: what it wants but with Jaime having veto
: power. I think it'd be cool if there was an
: issue or an arc with their two personas
: switched. That way we get to see what the
: scarab is really like now that it can be its
: own sentient and not just enslaved by its
: creators.
