Was anyone else more effected by Rogers' name mistakenly being on the cover of Blue Beetle #29 than they should have been? I saw it and was very happy, thinking perhaps Rogers had had time to squeeze one more issue out before his mythical other projects. That put Sturgess further behind even further. It was no longer me having months to get used to reading a new regular writer's stuff. Now I had to read his debut just moments after getting my hopes up about seeing Rogers' work.
Sturgess tried too hard is all I have to say. I think he has Jaime's basic personality down and a good idea how to continue what Rogers built but in his own way. It was just too much, you know? Like when you're having a fight with your best friend and the next best friend in line is trying to take his place while you two work it out.
Art? usual Blue Beetley goodness.
Teen Titans? McKeever really isn't a very good writer, is her? Jaime is officially a Titan now but that was the only good point in the whole book, besides the fill in art. Barrows is quite good but his type of stylization isn't quite my cup of tea. It's the story that was complete and utter crap. The dialog didn't seem to fit characters, the forced bad feelings between Beetle and Devil, and the lack of anything but just rankled. And did anyone else think the boys had kissed and made up before it was stated so in the last page or two? I assume McKeever thinks he made it clear in the story, he was wrong and should be replaced before this book gets any more unreadable and unrecognizable.
