: You said this in one thread:
: "Well, I don't think Namor can fly
: 8,000mph as the first A-1 tactical prototype
: that the U.S. launched in September 1959
: could. But, Namor easily outflew and dodged
: the same airliner mentioned above. I like to
: believe Namor can fly at around super sonic
: speed. "

: In what issue did Namor outfly and dodge the
: airliner?
Next page narrative describes Namor's speed:
"Sub-Mariner wastes little time! He becomes a meteor, a lightning bolt, a streak accross the midday sky...speeding toward the coastline of America!"
I think Stan was trying to tell us that Namor flies at superhuman speed. The handbook says Namor flies at 60mph. That certainly isn't meteor like, lightning bolt, or a streak. In this instance Namor PROVED the handbook wrong just like he's proven it WRONG many times regarding his strength and power. 85 tons wet, which the handbook has Namor at, is nothing to a being who has lifted a 110,000 ton tanker or a 2,000 ton destroyer or who has broken the Crimson Bands of Cytorrak!
BTW, Namor called dodging the airliner horseplay. Airliners fly at about 500 to 600 mph I believe and Namor calls dodging it horseplay which also indicates Namor has speed, manueverability, and agility to spare.
ps Read the TTA, and Namor's first series to really see him use his great strength and power. And, he's much more noble than arrogant in these issues.
