Hello Dolores.
I don't know what the screenplay by David Self was supposed to be like, however, the only thing that I heard about was that, indeed, they are going to go in the direction that Namor finds out through a series of events that he is actually a descendant from the long lost nation of Atlantis. The kicker is supposed to be that he's the central, key figure in a long developing war that has been ongoing with Atlantis and the surface world. So I imagine that he's going to find out about this when he starts doing things like being able to breathe underwater & having unbelievable moments of strength, swimming at exceptional speeds in the water, etc. I haven't heard anything about if they are going to make his character closer to the traditional anti-hero that we knew & loved way back when. I, personally, am hoping that they do......and drop any ideas of making him Al Gore underwater!
: I can't speak about the director since I
: haven't seen that Terminator movie, but is
: there any news on what direction the
: screenplay is taking? Way back when, there
: was a rumor that the film would portray
: Namor almost as the spokesperson and or
: champion for the health of the world's
: oceans and its eco-systems (shoot me now,
: please!). Something off one of the latest
: rumor mills points the film in the direction
: of Namor finding out he's the decendent of
: the fabled city of Atlantis (sounds closer
: to the What If one-shot released earlier
: this year). Has anyone heard of a screen
: treatment closer to his 40's or 60's
: hero/anti-hero origins?
