The irony about some of the Namor mini-series and regular series of the past has been that for a character who's known as the "Sub-Mariner", he never seems to spend enough time underwater except to find out that he's been kicked out of Atlantis for the 300th time. Thor has Asgard, the Black Panther has his kingdom of Wakanda, and yet very few series have really gone into depth in creating some real roots, other than creating a small supporting cast (cousins Dorma, Kang, Namorita (remember we all thought her mother was dead), and Seth, also Vashti and bad guy Attuma. John Byrne's Namor series did have a few storylines involving Atlantis - the highlight for me was the series of issues around the time Byrne stopped drawing the series and had Jae Lee do the art. It involved Atlantian bloodlines and the attempted resurrection of the high priest Suma Ket and his priestess, who's spirit was tranferred into Fen's long dead and buried body. At least we were shown something different than the usual Atlantian uprising or "Attuma's attacking - all is forgiven - please come home and save us again" stories. I guess what I'm really waiting for is a series like the Inhumans 12-issue mini-series (also illustrated by Jae Lee) that re-examined their history and their conflict with us humans in a really refreshing and intelligent way as well as a glimpse into their culture.
