Posted by Torch on 6/25/2007, 8:17 pm, in reply to "Re: Namora's Parents" --Previous Message-- Yes, I have that issue of Alter Ego, but it's packed away at present. Still, as a fan of Namor, Namora and Nita, I discussed that issue with others on other boards with other fans of Golden Age Marvel heroes. What had happened is that Roy Thomas was relating the origin of Namora, and the untimely death of Namor's creator, Bill Everett. Bill was working on the Silver Age Sub-Mariner comics and had decided to revive Namora from the Golden Age. His plan wasn't fully worked out, but it started to unfold with the introduction of Nita, Namora's daughter, in issues #50-51, and showed the flashback of Namora's supposed death at Llyra's greedy & jealous hands. Unfortunately, not long after introducing Namorita to Namor's cast, Bill got very, very sick and was having difficulty meeting Marvel's deadlines (he was both writing and drawing the comic, as well as some others). Thus Namora was lost to obscurity as the last scene written with her had her supposedly deceased. Depsite the fact that Namor had proven impervious to poisoning himself, due to his hybrid physiology, Namora was left for dead. Fortunately that has now changed. Unfortunately, too late for Namorita, however. *sigh* -Torch

: Her Atlantean "father" was
: depicted
: in her introduction story back in the late
: 1940s early 1950s. I forget the exact issue
: number, but I believe it was SUB-MARINER
: COMICS #26 or 27.

: Namora was the product of an Atlantean
: Father and Human Mother.

: Thanks! I had a feeling that subject would
: have been touched on at least once. The
: '60's issues
: of Sub-Mariner showing Namora in ice I do
: have and just figured she was dead from the
: poison provided by Llyra. I remember reading
: something from Roy Thomas's Alter Ego that
: it was decided not to bring Namora back, but
: to create the younger 'Nita as a
: counterpoint to Namor's personality.
