Dave,
Personally, as the moderator of the board and such, I can't really recommend one company over another. However, I will say this...
As a general rule, I recommend to people that they find a company that offers two things.
First is a product(s) or service(s) that you personally can get excited about. If you can't generate passion about them, it's hard to be convincing in your presentation. If they don't touch you or create some kind of change in your life (health, lower bills, etc. etc.), why would your prospects be interested?
Second, is the compensation plan good? Some swear by unilevels, others by some kind of matrix and on and on and on. The key in my mind here is whether or not the payout generated will get you started quickly. In other words, if you and your prospect have to build a group of 10 customers or enroll 5 new business partners for instance before you make any overrides, that will be discouraging. I like to see a balance of income generated by building group, sometimes called leadership bonuses, and incentives to recruit that pay immediately. And of course, you should get a decent retail commission off of personal sales.
I always recommend people find something that works for THEM. Don't get sucked into a feeding frenzy on the latest greatest trend. Stability, backing and a proven system are important. There are too many failures in this industry to waste time on an unproven system in my opinion. There's no reason why you can't make just as much money in a company that is 10 years old versus a startup. Anyone that tells you that you have to get in on the ground floor of a business either doesn't understand the business or is telling the truth which makes it a scam or will be targeted by the Feds in the future.
