Were the helmets throwbacks as well? They did look good. Also liked the Twins white uni's they had on Sun or Sat?
Heck of a game. Gotta say that I wasn't to geeked up for the game but listening to sports radio a lot of Packers fans were. A lot to be sure. At the same time Favre also looks like a person who can bring these two rival fan bases together. Who'd a thougt Mr. Favre a upper midwestern uniter. There was a bunch of creativity in the stands last night. And I for one am noticing the wagon is getting more and more crowded. Hot bar waitresess with overly endowed features are now Vikings fans. Or at least one that I know of. Slide over cuz there will be a few more getting on board this week.
And to think I used to give noodle grief over his offense. Come to find out ol brad had a play drawn up in the case they should lose the red challenge flag. The problem though is he lost that play on a piece of paper. Then after the Keystone cop routine he finds the flag and the piece of paper in the SAME pocket. Who'd a figured.Seriously though wouldn't he of had the flag out immediately after a fourth down play that saw the football bouncing from player to player. And then we may of learned whether they even would have overturned the call. it was close and IMO they would have left it alone. It was a bit like the play that they changed the rule for, possesion and the ball hits the turf. Luckily it worked out for us. Still though they got panned on tv. To me this is part of Brad's over all inefficiency and a result of being the HC and calling the offensive plays. How can he work onthe big picture if he's got to perare for the next play. I guess that's what tv timeouts are for and why he made Leslie the assistant HC.
Speaking of play calling I thought noodle made some good calls out there. I wonder how many Brett called or audibled? The running game though was fairly brutal. I get the feeling that Brad see's a play work once o\r twice and he is going to call that play over and over and.... run right run left. If s we took away AD spectacular runs then what would noodle ahve left. AD makes brad look very good when essentially all that is called is run left or run right. It's not ofter that the crew breaks down one of our plays and says how well designed it is. Even the td plays today were of a stock variety. Very well executed by our quarterback. And for the most part Green Bay had our guys covered but the throws were on the money. Can't say the sme for our defense. Yesterday we added the other half of the offense that had been somewhat lacking, only 2 throws ove 20 yards so there is proof, and it was awesome to watch. We have potential with percy and Bernard and Sidney and Visanthe and old no. 4 throwing to them. I had the feeling that Darrell and Brad were holding plays back for this game and indeed but the run game was predictable. And once AP makes a mistake his tendancy is to bail out to the sideline. He needs to be taught to go down when there are three linemen on him, because you can be sure that other teams will try to stand him up and attack the ball. I was afraid of Percy fumbling on that great catch from favre but no way. He is a beast. If we are going to run outside then pitch the ball rather then drag the entire defensive line with him. I've never felt we were a pulling type run team. That is what the Packers do very well. That's the mistake we made with Herchel, running hm right and left rather than north and south.
And why on Earth do coaches insist on running prevent defense even after all the games we've watched go awry. Even if the stats say that these teams still win it is not a momentum builder. I was coming unglued on the tv late in the game. I know lets have the corners play off ten yards and have the linebackers back 15 yards with the safeties back 30 or 40. Then the reciever can catch it behind the lb's and not have to worry about a defender for a good 20 yards. REALLY? The one play there were two recievers vying for the ball. We were giving up huge chunks. If one of the 2 onside kicks had worked we could a been fu3ked. That was unacceptable. We need to trade Chestor for a real safety. And then Sharper running one back 99 yards for N-Orlins. We need someone back there that can blow up a play AND ball hawk. Asking for to much? At one point I was convinced we were defending the land between the endzone and the bleachers. No, I said further, until you hit the stadium walls But I place more of the blame at the foot of noodle the play caller not noodle tthe head coach. We have this tendancy to get complacent. Oh well another 3 and out no biggie. what could happen? Over and Over!!!! How about \putting effort into making the score out of reach. How bout running the offense as normal. How bout keeping the offense on the field and the defense OFF the field.Brutal.
This was a great game to watch, a great for mr. Favre and one heckuva game for the recieving core. We have all the pieces and the rest of the year to improve and we just may need it. A lot to be thankful for but also a lot of work to be done. We can't make these mistakes against B-More or Pittsburgh of at the pack. Time to watch it again! Skol Vikes!
