I thought the refs took mercy on rodgers also. There were some obvious holds that resulted in big plays down the field. If the refs would have called the game properly it would have been by 21. The GB tackles were trying at times to tackle our ends. KW was also being held a lot and there is one play were the packer was holding him and he just sort flexed his arm out and the packer went flying to the ground. sort of funny. They easily could have had 12 sacs this game.
The packers always seem to get the calls. I still remember the game where the nfl admitted to blowing 9 calls total and 8 calls happening in the 4th quarter. Ed hockily was the head referee. The nfl has never admitted that many bad calls in a game and probably never will again. That was the famous game where Favre flicked hoven off and ran off the field.
I believe we only had 2 calls accepted for penalties against us. Maybe they felt guilty about trying to protect rodgers...hehe.
Since Mike McCarthy took over the packers they are a soft team. He talks tough but his teams are sort of soft and both sides of the ball. I think that is the real reason they lost the nfc game in 2007 bc they were manhandled by the giants. Once again we were the ones wearing the pants and they had their skirts on again.
I think we can also give thanks for this game from Ted Thompson-no i'm not talking about getting Favre. I'm amazed that he continues to have rosters w/o stop gap players. Players that are average pros that can fill in w/o a precipitous drop in play when someone gets injured. He loads his team with backups that he thinks have potential w/o a thought to injury. The question is, if i were a packer fan, when do you finally say the future is now. The 5 year plan has left a team that strong on the outside but weak on the inside. I have always contended it is much harder to build the lines and should take them years to get the talent needed for their offense to become fully functional. Excellent for us.
I say if we play this game 10 times we win it 8. On a neutral field 7 and at the aluminum bleachers 6. I feel good about the away game. I just hope it's not one of the 4 out of 10 games.
We played 3 1/2 quarters of quality football. We only gave up 1 offensive TD up to that point. I was not pleased with the remaining 1/2 quarter. I would like to see a complete game from the team dominating for 4 quarters. It's nice to be 4-0 and know you can improve and keep showing improvement each game.
Griffin and Winnie played well keeping driver and jennings in check. But the TE position killed us yet again. I think our safeties played poorly. Yes, the tackling was surprisingly bad. That is disappointing bc we are one of the few teams that tackles well.
