I wonder if these questions come from the Jerry Rice thing. Jerry Rice was with Seattle or Denver I beleive when he decided to retire, obviously he was with the Raiders a few years as well.

The 49ers put him on the active roster for a day so he could "retire" as a 49er. This was just really ceremonial and has nothing to do with the HOF.
