my point is teams like the Pack and the Pats win with starters who most would consider backup caliber running backs. We didn't need to be spending a second rounder on a RB when we already have Adrian Peterson on the roster. Take one or two guys in the 5th, 6th, or 7th rounds or pick up a free agent. Spend your high picks on positions that make more of a difference, like offensive line and DBs. Spending a second round pick on a running back when AD will dominate the position until the guy is 26 or 27 is simply buying AD insurance and it won't help you anywhere on the field except for a few plays here and there. If you spend that second rounder on an offensive lineman, it will make Peterson and his fifth round pick backup both more effective on every offensive play. If you doubt me, tell me that we couldn't have gotten what we got from Gerhardt from Dwyer or Starks, or the other guy I mentioned.
