The teams with a good backup don't miss a beat. McFadden goes down and Bush takes over, A. Foster goes down and Ben Tate takes over, Felix Jones goes down and Murray takes over. Now Jamaal Charles goes down and their terrible. Both backs for San Diego have been hurt and they are having a poor season. J. Best gets hurt and they struggle.
Teams without a quality backup are not good when the starter goes down.
There are always those exceptions when the quarterback is so good they don't need a strong running game. Brees, Rodgers, and Brady are the only QB's in todays game that can pull this off. Out of 32 teams only three teams can pull off being a pass team first with no regard to the running game.
I believe a backup running back is every bit as important and the backup QB.
I'm glad to have Gerhart.
There was no predicting that McFattass was going to be cut, Sullivan missing several games, and the right guard was going to be musical chairs.
It is definitely time to address the line. We are set in the backfield.
