they are aiming to only play one season at TCF Bank stadium, but they are prepared to play two seasons there, if necessary. The architects haven't even been chosen yet, so there is no design, and no concrete time frame of how long it will take to build the stadium. By that, I mean that because most of the new stadium will be built directly on the ground that the Metrodome now occupies, it is unknown whether 18-19 months will be enough to build the majority of the stadium, as that is the time frame they will have to fit under if the team is to only play one season at TCF Bank stadium.
Here is a link to an interview with Mark Wilf, which confirm what I've just said about the time frame being 1-2 years at TCF.

BTW, I welcome 2 seasons at the Bank. As I was still very young when the Vikings moved out of Met Stadium (my dad took me to a game there during the final season, when I was only 6), I would love to see some January football played outdoors in Minnesota.
