Where to start? Offense. Pnder looked pretty good. missed a wide open td on 2nd drive. scored a td pass on 1st drive. Vikes 1st team offense- no punts no turnovers so far.
Toby finally looks like he has bulked up enough to be a damn good nfl back, felton and ellison are a good 1-2 punch at fb. the wrs looked damn good. stevie burton is gonna be on the field this year making plays. O line looked outstanding vs whats supposed to be the best dline in football.
Defense? Mistrayal raymond and harry smith are your 2012 starters at safety. raymond(41) is all over the field making plays in this game. smth is just solid and QUICK! to the ball.Josh robinson gets on thield, he too looks solid. Erin henderson, solid night. Jaspar??? wow dude. rookie Audie cole is gonna steal your job. Remember when vic said on draft day audie cole was a steal in the 7th round???? haha, yeah. watch this game into the 4th qtr. AUDIE IS A BEASTIE!!!
blanton is in danger of not making this team. all of a sudden the db depth is a strength. Spielman says so when interviewed in the 4th qtr. I suspect the vikes will IR blanton at the cutdown to buy him a new rookie year next season. you can't just cut a 4th round pick before he gets on the field in todays NFL, and blanton has a severely pulled hammy that has kept him out of practice since week 2.
chris carr is a waste, but, zac bowman, sherels, josh robinson all look good Cook and infield are the likely week 1 starters, if robinson can stay healthy(nursing a sore hammy) I think he might supplant winfield so the vikes can limit antoines reps. jamarca sanford actually looked pretty good out there to as did Roaming camp veteran sendejo. Lber Mckenzie is a beast on st's as is sendejo. eric frampton might get supplanted this year. i just don't see room for him. sendejo is a younger fresher version of eric with more ball skill as a safety. Marvin itchell looks better than jaspar brinkley at mlber. Also in the 4th qtr. the vikes last pick of the draft, myton guyton...plays in beast mode. guy looks like a heavier john randle just eating up everyone they line up in front of him. Another late round steal.
now, if spielman will just nutt up and give these youngsters jobs! If jaspar doesn't play any better, then you have to cut him and play cole or mitchell. it's that friggen simple. jaspar can't stick around and logjam the mlber position because he has "potential".
oh and rookie kicker Blair Walsh? helluva night! A career night!
Now, after sayong all that. I simultaneously watched the lions/rAVENS. and while the vikes looked very good. The lions looked to be playing at an entirely different speed. The lions tonight, the bengals last night. they are just at a different level talent wise than the vikes.
The vikes have improved, and they will shock some contender at some point this year. But they are still some red zone playmakers and defensive ball hawker or two away from being in the elite class.
Anyways, congrats to spielman and the vikes..heh heh, and to audie cole who stole the show!!!!
