D-linemen & CB are the strength. There are CB's available on day 3 that might become starters.
Wr and o-line are weak links. Even the best of these groups may struggle to win an NFL job.
So it's easy to see what kwesi is thinking. "If we don't draft Addison now, we may not get a serviceable wr. If we don't grab Banks/ Porter. We can get a decent cb in round 3".
Yeah, ok. I get the thought process. Except.
To be a really good team. You can't populate your roster with wr5 & cb 12 types.
Your 1st round pick needs to be near top at his position. Every year. Get as many top 3 position players as you can manage.
The Vikings didn't do that in 2022. And now in 2023. They appear to be targeting the middlers again
If you are a roster of middlers. The team is destined to be middling. A one & done playoff chump at best.
Banks was the pick at 23. Or a trade down. The 2 teams behind Vikes both traded down. So the possibility was there. But no. Kwesi panicked. Had to fill a need(wr). We know from years of experiences. Draft by need instead of best talent creates fail.
Heck, they could have gone tight end or center at pick 23. Picked the best of the best at those positions. And it'd be hard to argue against it.
Maybe even safety or RB.
But Addison? Man that dude is small and runs a 4.5 40. It's unlikely he becomes anything than a role player. The 3rd wr... Pfft! Wasted pick.
I think they had Zay flowers targeted. At least he's fast & really quick. And when flowers was grabbed ar #22. Kwesi panicked.
As pH sez.. f= fail.
Kwesi round 1 has earned his effin "F" once again.
The Vikings are in trouble.
The lions will kick their ass this year & the next 3-5 years after that.
Why?
BC the GM is a dipstick.
In year 2, he still doesn't understand.
U have to have a plan the plan has to adapt to the board that arrives at your picking slot.
The plan cannot be based solely on need.
No fluidity, no adaptive behavior. Just a panicky day trader picking warm bodies to cross off the team needs.
We are so Fvcked!
