Poor Oakland... Oakland is poor.
The city has been trying for at least 20 years- to come up with a solution to replace the rat infested sewer boil over known as the Oakland/Alameda Coliseum.
Once a grand complex- all served by one giant parking lot. Easy assess off the freeway and commuter rail(BART). I watched more live events there. Concerts- both indoors & out. Hockey- the California Golden Seals. Back when they were the only NHL team west of the Mississippi. A few raiders games and maybe 50 Oakland A's games....
The MLB franchise was the last remaining Tennant of what was once the pride of the bay area. Truly. The end of an era.
I guess it's official now. I am a dinosaur. A relic of days long gone and long forgotten. Charley Finley's mule trotted out for us kiddos to pet in between autographs and Batting Practice long ball. I must have taken in a dozen double headers at the Coliseum. 2 dozen concerts.
I saw the rolling stones there. Ac/DC, Led Zeppelin and U2. The Grateful dead too, and a host of other lesser knowns like J Geils, Fleetwood Mac and Aerosmith.
*SIGH*
The Vic-asaurus is feeling old today.
