There is NO shame in that. Ozzie Smith comes to mind. Greg Gagne was part of the TC champs and wasn't in the lineup for his bat...
But those defensive studs didn't bat in the top half of the lineup.
Therein lies the shame. That Rocco keeps batting Correa 3rd. Sometimes 2nd or 4th. And expects? Correas bat to magically come alive.
Note to Rocco- hey stupido, it was the sign stealing, not Carlos's skill that was behind the guys batting success. Keeping him in the top 1/2 of the order is why TC run production is far below the expected total.
If Correa had any class. He'd be the one demanding Rocco drop him to 7th or 8th.
GiDP for CC is gonna set a seasons record this year?
The record was set in 1984 at 36 by an aging Jim Rice. But it was forgiveable as Rice also scored 98 runs and had 122 rbi's.
Correa & his 29 GiDP pairs it with 51 runs scored & 57 rbis.
There's 28 games remaining. 7 GiDP ties the Rice record. 8 or more will pair him forever with the dubious stat. That's basically 1 per 3-4 games series. Which is his seasons pace.
CC hit into 18 in 2022.
Rice hit into 28 in 82, 31 in 83, 36 in 84 & 35 in 1985, which was Jim's final year as a full time starter. Once you get that reputation. Teams pitch you for the double play. You can expect this GiDP issue to only become worse in coming seasons. Until Carlos gets dropped down to the bottom of the order.
