They're not the giant employer they once were when the Dave Smith family owned them.
The family sold it.
There used to be around 1k -2k+ vehicles for sale parked around the valley in the various lots. I doubt there's 250 new vehicles in town now-a-days. All employment opportunities with the car dealer are similarly downsized.
I know one person that works there. As a "detailer". They used to have a crew of 30-40 auto detailers. Now it's 6 people. One doubles as the dept manager, another as dept book keeper.
COVID, chip shortage hit that biz really hard.
Their accessory dept, body shop & tire shop are all closed now.
Right before COVID, they did a ton of upgrades, bought more land, installed lighting, security cams, paving etc inorder to bring in even more vehicles. The Dave Smith expansion was quite the talk around town. I imagine it was a huge new debt on their books. Then COVID hit. Carmakers got hammered by the chip shortage. Dave Smith corp heading towards bankruptcy became the new big story around town.
The didn't go bankrupt. Instead they sold the biz.
I doubt they still hold the claim, "largest selection of Ram trucks in the west".
So- no. Not the biggest employer in town anymore.
