I was watching some pundit show, & they were grading the Surprise addition that worked out best. None of the talking heads mentioned Dobbs & it surprised me. I thought he was the obvious choice. Maybe bc the W/L record wasn't there.
But through 4 weeks? What doubts did was somewhat amazing. Traded from Cleveland to AZ 10 days from opening day. And then hit the ground running. In the process, learning a complex offense and seeming to inspire the entire Card team to play above expectations. He's not mahomes, probably not even Geno Smith. But he brings something the Vikings haven't had in a very long time. A dual threat QB. Even thinking on Daunted, Tark, the aged RC. The dual threat any of those had was really more threat than actual result.
Dobbs could be quite exciting with all the talent on the vike roster. It should be fun no matter the results. Will there be it's? Probably. Probably more O-L holding calls too via change of direction behind the line.
Closer to Jaren Halls skill set as well to aid in his development, if it's possible.
I like Josh Dobbs skill set. Not in the offense Cuz was running. I don't think that's a Dobbs match... So? Do we see the KOC offense evolve on the fly? To a more rpo QB friendly system?
Mattison, Akers? Not really RPO experienced backs. Ty Chandler played in rpo scheme in college, Kenee Nwengwu to a lesser degree.
Does Viking scheme change? 8 weeks in, probably only subtly. It's a good stretch inside the season tho, to begin adding a subtle tweak or 2.
1- bc the opponents get somewhat lesser & 2. After 8 weeks teams adjust to what your strengths are. Surprise!!! There's zero tendency & tape to plan for the Jevin O'Dobbs offense.
If Dobbs is ready to play by Sunday next. I'd be shocked. But if anyone available could do so, Dobbs is the one guy that's already done it once this year.
Strangest part in this.
Dobbs has a chance to become the teams leading rusher at some point going forward.
