Koc & Kwesi have a qb targetted that koc & McKown feel can be adapted into the viking scheme with great success. Then that qb falls into their lap at pick 11.
They let the draft come to them & get their guy via patience.
The Steelers just did that with vet qb's.
Not that im a big fan of either fields or wilson- the current qb the 2 have become. Not at all. Both seem "ruined".
Except- it is the steelers. They made the playoffs the past 3 years with terrible qb play.
The pairing of wilson & fields looks good from where I sit. Neither is a qb that pits a team on his back & wins a sb. Both are complimentary qb's. Like kirko. With the right supporting cast, they could win a few in post season.
And the steelers just let it play out, let it come to them. As a result- both arrive as bargains, combined the are cheaper than darnold.
And- russ can teach Justin a few things that just might turn justin into a consistent competent qb.
Add in that tomlin has a way of keeping problem egos from destroying the team.
I dont think koc has been around long enough to handle the combo of RW & JF. If the vikings had gone that direction- it probably plays out in the media. It wont in pittsburgh.
What vet qb's are left? Mullins, Tannehill, Zac Wilson. Am I missing someone?
Keep the avail qb's in mind when you/we discuss Vikings trading up into top 3. None of thise too 3 have a starter on their roster right now. Bagent, Marriota, Brisett. Are their qb-1's right now. Brisett is the only 1 that can possibly be sold to the fan base w hopes of selling them tix.
And trading down to 11 with the vikes for whomever is left wont play well in any of those cities.
Where does Zac Wilson wind up? Im am very curious on that front. His skill set is better than any of the rookie qb's after Caleb. He needs a ton of psychological grooming. But there is serious upside if its fixed.
