2022- 4 sacks, 22 tckl.
2023- 11 sacks, 33 tckl.
His 2 ff in his carreer came vs ole miss & so florida.
Its college- he played surrounded by an all-star team. Definitely theres flashes. Definitely teams had to account for him. 4.43 speed at olber is impressive. Failure st combine, to lift, do shuttle or cone drills suggests something other than game changer...at this point... As I said above tho. Brian Flores as his HC suggests he will reach his potential if he wishes to be "the man".
It is just my personal bias on this next comment.
Flores is able to scheme up qb pressure. He turned DJ wonnum from a "potential" type guy- to vastly improved production. I dont think it was necessary to add Turner- instead of somebody at interior o-line or interior d-line- where the depth is rather bad & the starters are jags.
It goes vack to philosophy. If you believe- the game is won in the trenches. Both of the vikings 1 rnd pucks were bad choices. My view remains. If you cant run the ball in 4-6 min drill. If you cant stop the run.
You have nothing. You must have goid players at your line interiors to accomplish those 2 tasks.
W/o looking. Can anyone name the 5-6 man rotation on the d-line? The 4-5 man rotation on the interior o-line?
I like to believe I'm up to date as anybody not employed by vikings. I cant name those players w/o looking.
Obviously- the vikings arent prioritizing "winning the trenches"... It feels like a company I worked for, in the year or 2 b4 they filed bankruptcy. Fill in the grunts with warm bodies. Talent doesnt matter. Keeping costs down is priority. Getting tenured employees to fill in the gaps will be enough.
Cool, until your tenured employees grow tired of doing the work of 2.
In the trenches? Eagles, Chiefs, Niners, Browns, Ravens. Their rotation guys are better than Vikings starters.
Our skill positions were on par with those teams.
Im sure everybody is tired of hearing it.
However, weariness doesnt improve the team.
Adding JJ McCarthy. He's going to outplay kirko?
Maybe? What year? 2026? 27?
So? Why did CJ stroud hit the ground running? Impress so much early. Mahommes? Purdy?
Those teams were filled out. Really only needing a reliable qb.
Zac Wilson, Christian Ponder, Sam Darnold, Bryce young and so many others ... Did they land on offenses with at least solid line play & 2 playmakers? No they didnt. The qb gets the credit when it succeeds, they blame when it fails.
The skill sets at qb are enough. But so many qb's fail.
Use your own eyes. Lack if o-weapins - o-line play is the 95% common thread in failure. Being goid in those support areas is the common factor in success.
I think theres a false belief out there. That the mobile qb covers up for bad o-line play. It just isnt true. A mobile qb extends the play. From 3 seconds to 5 or 6. Sometimes 8 seconds.
But no qb. Not a one. Has championship success getting pressured consistently at 1.5 to 2.5.
I ve read so much criticism of cousins holding the ball to long. Yet his snap to pass rate is near the top. His snap to sack rate was one of the least. That is in an offense thats built around deeper routes. Those routes require more time to develop. Its absolutely remarkable how successful cuz was behind a 2 seconds to pressure o-line.
JJ McCarthy is in for some culture shock if he plays behind this line. Sam Darnold might be as well.
The other cruticism- cuz was always checking down... Lmao, watch the all 22 tape. It was pretty dam rare Cousin didnt make the right decision on where to throw the ball.
Barton at LG would have changed that on day 1. In the process. Allowing the right side of the line to improve via combo & double team blocks.
The past few seasons. Either #56 or one of the guards was left to man his 2 gaps solo.
None if those 3 positions was strong/ technically sound enough to accomplish this. Feeney is a slight upgrade. We dont have enough data on Brandel. Maybe one or the ither can hold up. But realistically. Both are good fill ins/ depth. Not players that'll handle the job 17 or more games.
There were a few guys in round 2, beyond bartons draft grade. We traded that pick.
Yet even in round 4. Smh at who we drafted...the Dakota starter McCormick was an absolute beast on an island, same with the kid beebee from Kansas.... But we traded away those picks.
Ok great. We got our franchise qb, and the next danielle hunter...
Even if thats true. Qb & 1 star olber got us to what level? All we did is replace to teally goid players by using 2 years entire draft capital.
It utter foolishness. Unless of course. Being an in the hunt for division title 1&done playoff team is your ceiling goal.
I dont understand it from a fan pov. From an owners viewpoint. Whose fortune is secured with commercial real estate? Oh fvck yeah I understand.
Woof! Then compound it with mr. " Ive invented my own draft pick value chart"...
Viking fan may not realize it. But if you got girlie eggs in your lower intestine- theres a high probability your pregnant.
