Hey Tom - I'm a lucky owner of a fairly reliable 97 Ford Taurus (since its birth), amazingly which has been trouble-free - original tranny and all! However, I recently unloaded this car to my 16-year old son, and with 114,000 miles, I want to prepare for a preventative timing chain replacement now. There are no current symptoms, just a precaution. Any idea on when these things must be replaced? Ditto question on the original water pump? Thanks Tom. Mike
