I have my own views on hotels so think it better not to offer advice.
You need to consider what you are looking for in a hotel. Position and facilities. Many Aussies like the Dynasty because it has a Kids Club and many other Aussies stay there.
Things to do -
1. Waterbom is great
2. Taman Burung Bird Park and the reptile park next door are both good to do
3. Ubud Monkey Forest is a place to see the monkeys
Kids are very welcome in Bali and you will have a great time
