I have just got back from 11 days in bali with my family. We found some lovely cheap local places to eat. One was Warung Jogya in Jalan Padma Utara. They had nasi goreng and other indonesian dishes for around 11000 rp. Very tasty as well as cheap! Another place called Legian Snacks along the same street, had western food as well as indonesian. Prices were very reasonable, and we had the best whole baked fish shared between two people for around 50000 rp. If you really get sick of the indonesian cuisine, try Tommys on Rum Jungle Road. They had salad rolls, toasted beef sandwiches, greek salads, a farmers platter made up of cheese, olives, chutney, and crusty french bread, plus lots more. We also discovered a great Thai place called Warund Asia (cannot recall the street) but I had the best green curry vegetable dish I have ever had. Thoroughly recommend all these places and wouldn't hesitate to go back again.
