The Battle for Red, White & Boom started last night at Jerry's Bait Shop. I've been doing some form of Club Wars every Tuesday at Jerry's since the end of March. This was by far the biggest turn out we've had. The Strive was the band that advanced to the Final. This Sunday the 10th at VooDoo is the next date. Followed by Tuesday the 12th at Jerry's. And then 2 stages of bands with 1 band advancing from each on June 15 at Aftershock. The Final is on June 19th at Jerry's. The winner opens Red, White & Boom headlined by Gavin Degraw on June 23 at Starlight.
The Battle For Red, White & Boom is a mere blip on the radar compared to Metal Wars and the Ultimate Hip Hop Artist. These 2 battles, both of which are spanning 6 months or more, will have all of their finalists determined after this Friday the 8th at the Beaumont. I have not confirmed a final for either competition but I expect to sometime next week. I've combined the 2 on a number of dates in the last few months, but I don't expect to do that for the finals.
The Battle For Freaker's Ball has had a handful of dates over the last month. It starts kicking into gear in the second half of June and will mostly dominate my July and August calendar. The next date takes place on June 16 at the club currently known as Harley's and Horses. They're changing their name to All Star Bar and I think the name change takes place that week.
Finally Cover Wars. All that's on the Cover Wars schedule right now is 2 different finals. The first of which is July 1 at the Beaumont Club. This is the one that has taken place over the last month. The winner opens up the Rock-N-Roll Dream Concert on July 14 at Sandstone/Cricketwireless Amphitheater. The other final is on September 7 at VooDoo Lounge. That one had bands qualify between September of last year through March of this year. Right now I'm not planning on starting another Cover Wars until the Fall.
