To be fair there is more competition for people in bigger cities, more bands working the hustle, and talent buyers are more willing to punt than take a risk on a band from out of town.
Our least attended shows this past tour were in Chicago - but it was also weeknights. Best were in Cleveland and Fort Wayne. New York was good but it was in midtown Manhattan so there was a built in crowd.
We were treated best in smaller markets, but the bigger markets were not horrible, just not as accomodating.
We also sold more merch in smaller cities.
