Posted by Paul I was by default recently named manager of a senior over 65 team that plays in Huntington Beach on Sundays. League now over, but starts again Jan 15, 06. The league is competitive to say the least, and recently branched off the over 55 H.Bch senior mens league. Like the 55-59-60 yr olds made it diff for the o/ 65 guys... We play all games at Greer Park, H.Bch, and on Sunday. Our/my team, HAWKS, has been in the H.Bch Sunday leagues for ever it seems. As our team aged our manager did not upgrade to younger players unless one left or stopped playing. Thus we kept gradually slipping down in rank and competitiveness. Earlier this year, H.B. started the o/65 league to enable the older players to keep playing the game. We only had 3 players under 65 so it was an easy move for the HAWKS. We started with a good 14 man roster, but we were struck w/ a miriad of injuries, 2 knees, 2 prostrate, 1 shoulder, and 1 split hand, all with in 3 weeks... Ad the usual vacations and we were dead in the water... So after over 20 yrs the manager called it quits, here's the reins Paul, go get'em... Hence this email to you. You are prob not seasoned enough to play in a o/65 league, and thats great. What I am asking is: "IF" you know any players that are going to be 65 in '06 and want to play with a group of nice guys on Sundays, please refer them to me. Currently could use 3 or 4 players. Skil levels vary, but as usual the 'gooder the better' works here. Bottom line: If you do monitor this group, any help is much appreciated, and players welcome... Thanks, Paul G.
