I remember the army camp in the Hills. I was demobbed from the Royal Artillery in 1957,after serving my National Service in Cyprus.While working for the North Thames Gas Board, I had to do some work at the camp when I ran into one of my old Sergeants, who I remember as a mean S.O.B. I also became friends with a couple of the soldiers there who would come to my house and work on our motorbikes, one of those guys married a local girl and another, Ken Appleby,was killed riding his bike near the camp. My other memories are virtually none.
