I used to go to Janet Duke school in the 60's.
I remember a little row of shops directly opposite our school and at the heel of St Nicholas Scool playing fields stood another junior school - Choudrey. So many schools then.
Towards Blue House junior and infant School at the other end of Markhams Chase playing fields was a play centre that stayed open to all comers into mid evening where kids of all ages went to play ping pong, or borrow stilts and balls, to paint and use board games. It was there still in the 70's..I don't know if it has gone now.
I drive home sometimes to walk the same streets. I cry every time.
