I don't know how we got away with it, but I remember having my first ( illegal of course ) drink at the Gun Inn, in between Pitsea & Benfleet, what ever that area is called ?
I think that I was about 15 years old then, but no older than that, we used to get the bus from Basildon, and if you missed the last one, well guess what ? You had to walk home.
Kevin Venables got so drunk once, that he walked all the way back to Vange, then past his home, and down to the old bus station at the end of Clayhill Road in town.
He was found the next morning asleep under a bus by an early morning bus driver. Ha, Ha !
