One of the graves in the burial area of the old St Michael's church on Pitsea Mount is of a lady by the name of Hilda Burt. The memorial stone has been recently damaged by council staff strimming the vegetation but it states that Mrs Burt was 'killed by enemy action' on 9th March 1945. This was very late in WWII for something like this to occur and I can only think it was due to a V2 rocket. Does anybody know of any related incident in the local area at this time?
