Sorry to hear about Ernie,my immediate memories are Ernie converting a V8 Pilot into a hot-rod by chopping the front wings off and fitting motor cycle mudgards, and then he got a big (it was massive) old Cadilac auto only 1st and top gear worked we all had a whipround bought some petrol and wheezed coughed sputtered up the road to the nearest cafe,also he was the first bloke I knew that did car breaking with just a hammer and chisle.
