hi i agree with you Keith, i lived in the first bungalow on basildon road and i could just run across the field to coopers shop and get mums shopping. also i remember a butchers shop on the other side.and chrissie larkin had the tyre business on the corner opposite the primary school. i can still remember the mission on the corner of basildon road and bracken mount, and my favourite place was the bench at the bottom of the church steps at st nicholas after a wedding. if i was late home for dinner on a saturday mum would send one of my brothers to fetch me home. and then she would make me leave all the collected confetti outside in the garden. it,s been a long time since i left laindon, 1966 to be exact but i,ll never forget how happy i was there. happy days
