75.61.244.162The lights definitely attract fish, but boy are they particular, must be very patient, best with free shrimp or piggy perch.
Lateral canal probably best at either far end.
Jones Lake tonight between 4:30 and 6:30 produced 2 keeper reds, 2 18 inch reds, 1 14 inch spec, 1 small croaker, 2 hardheads, 1 15 inch sail cat, and 1 20 or so pound drum(circled the boat twice before coming to net). Not a lot of food, but good fun for me and neighbor and his two year old. Not saying who caught the fish or had the most fun. We just drifted from over by Tiki back toward BV.
By the way, two or three sharks in the three to seven foot range have been spotted in the Redfish/Sailfish canal.

76.247.246.254And if you make an underwater fishing light, make it 175 watt mercury vapor. It produces a green light under water and is a good color for attracting fish. Don't bother with a metal halide as it produces usually yellow light under water. Fish are most attracted to the blue or green range not very well to the yellow and red range. We tried metal halide and ended up getting rid of it in favor of the mercury vapor. Much better results. - Re: Fishing

76.247.246.254By the way, after much experimentation and many mistakes and changes, we have the most expensive underwater light in Bayou Vista, although it is just the same as everyone else's, ha, ha!
