In this world of sooo many Spay and Neuter laws trying to be passed, because of unwanted dogs, I think we all should make some hard decisions and be picky on breeding right now or we will all suffer if they get passed!!!
Look at CA, tomorrow can be a big turning point!
If you really want to do the best you can, I would go with the best match up for improvement, and the ones that have been tested for the major health problems before you breed, especially if any of the dogs in question are the ones that had the pup with the problem before, to rule out that it will not be something hereditory.
I would look at topline, bite, head, ears, straightness of leg, angulation in the rear, movement, hair and skin, eye shape and placement,
the parents of the dogs in question, size, dispostition and more.
IF you do not have a WAITNG LIST that you have prescreened don't breed. If you don't sell mostly limited registration to help cut down on unwanted and irresponsible breeding don't breed.
Really pick your dogs a part to see what you can do to improve.
If the faults they have are major don't breed, if they dont pass any of their health tests, don't breed.
If they make a good pair and match up that is the way you should go.
I have a dog I am having to do the same thing with. You can do the progest test to see if she is ovulating and when. JMO
