Hi BT Enthusiasts,
I have been thinking about the genotype of our seal and white "Max". As often happens when my consumption of coffee has made my brain work overtime. This morning I ruminated the blessing of so many colors from one dog. So, I got to thinking about Vetgen and it's coat color testing as it would applies to our stud dog. In the last (3) years Max has produced offspring as follows; black, brindle, red (liver or true red), lemon-yellow red, Lilac, champagne, chocolate and blue.
This has motivated us to approach the possibility that our "Max" is a carrier of the notorious "k" gene. The cost for this test is only $55.00.
While I don't totally understand how this gene works with it's counterparts, bb, ee, ay, etc...
I think we can come to some conclusion about future breeding plans either way.
While I have placed some very fine offspring with some very good breeders, this conclusion might benefit those who are currently breeding from my bloodline. What do you all think?
