I think it's safe to say that most techs' agree on: always change oil before storage and run the motor briefly to dilute any residual "bad stuff" that remains in the oil galleries and other such places when the engine is shut off. Changeing again in the spring before seasonal use? I would say Yes if "cheap oil" was used for storage, otherwise that could be a good subject for a lengthy debate.
Synthetic oil is all about being the best lubrication for moving engine parts during extremes of operating conditions. During storage the engine is not operating. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it. Clean, quality oil is to the motor what good tires is to the rider.
