• $11,500 OBO. I’ve owned the bike since 1965, and it had only one previous owner. It’s been kept in a garage the last 40 years. Almost everything on the bike is original, except as noted. Numbers match, etc. About 8 to 10 years ago, I rebuilt it, starting at the crankshaft. Legendary BMW mechanic Ed Korn (CycleWorks) reworked the inside of the motor. Included are his two VHS videotapes on “How to completely rebuild BMW R50s, R60s, R69s, slash/2s.” New pushrods, bushings, pistons, rings, heads rebuilt with new valves, gaskets, air filter, etc. Slingers were cleaned. Speedometer rebuilt about 12 years ago, now has about 50,000 miles on it, about 6,000 of which I’ve put on it since the complete overhaul eight to 10 years ago. Has both center stand and Flanders side stand. Spare clutch and brake cables coiled up in headlight bucket. This motorcycle has the BMW attachment points for a sidecar. The bike also includes the highly sought after Earles Forks. It has a locking gas cap complete with working key.
• Upgraded from 6v to 12v with Bench Mark Works alternator conversion.
• All sheet metal repainted by Bob’s BMW, Jessup, MD. First-rate job.
• Last year, new 12v battery.
• Eight to 10 years ago: new wiring harness, left and right handlebar mirrors and turn signals, a new tire pump, many stainless steel bolts, washers and nuts, most new chrome parts such as handlebar, headlight rim, taillight rim, crashbar, etc., custom small storage bag under driver’s seat, new front and rear shocks, new chrome rims, tires, tubes and almost all other rubber parts. Mufflers and headers are about 15 years old.
• Extra equipment/parts/manuals: Original BMW R60 Shop Manual (decent shape, in four languages), Parts Manual, Bing Carburetor Manual, all documentation for new equipment (12v alternator, etc.), most receipts/invoices for new parts, systems, etc., the original 6v generator, set of 6v bulbs, recovered/painted elongated dual seat, accessory plug under driver’s seat, carb gasket set, a custom-made stand (see photo) to hold R60 up on a standard ATV/motorcycle lift, unused rear luggage rack that goes on the rear fender (plus an unused rear seat that can fasten to the rack), excellent nylon cover, white Nolan helmet, 12v battery tender with quick-release plug, complete set of tools (including exhaust header tool) that fits into gas tank glovebox, key to glovebox also works front wheel lock, carb synthesizer, other tools.
