Thanks so much for keeping us updated. From the descriptions, he wasn't ready. A rehab unit is a good idea. (BIL has had several strokes, so I'm familiar with the drill.) They focus on mobility and skills needed for daily living.
It's good that the paperwork for assistance is under way. Social Services can be really helpful with this.
Will send a card soon, a neighbor died 2 days ago, and we've been busy with the family.
