Bone Appetit has always fluxuated between a Cat. 4 & 5 storm, but thanks to DB that storm has never gotten too out of control. He is the yin to Richie Gunns' yang. He is the mix for Hot Rod's gin that never runs out. He is band's biggest and harshest critic and it's biggest fan. And he was the guy who stayed awake with me through god damn Nebraska and Iowa at 4 AM in the morning. He's the only guy in the band I've never seen truly pissed off. I'm sure that repressed rage will manifest itself in a lowering of his sperm count, but that's not my worry. In all seriousness, DB really is my example of why play rock and roll. To me he has always had a sort of innocence about rock that many of us lose. We stop getting worked up over the details because details suck and it's more fun to get a drink at the bar instead. It's easier to say #### you we don't care then to admit that secretly we rock to be accepted. Bands that say they aren't important are full of shit because if that was true they would never get on a stage or release a recording to anyone outside the band. Bone Appetit isn't comedy, it's serious. But when you think about it, every great movement has it's straight guy. Laurel and Hardy. The Smothers Brothers. Hess and Hitler. Bush and Cheney. DB was the test for everything absurd a band member did. If it got under his skin, you know it made an effect on the audience. His good nature and his sense or irony only amplified every shenanigan everyone else pulled. To me Bone Appetit means Hot Rod, Richie Gunns, Sudden Death, and DB. I think it was proved last year that a critical mass is needed to rock hard. Get your bullet proof vest mother####ers, we got both barrells firing at you this year.

As a drummer DB has done nothing that hasn't been done before better by a million others. But he is the only person that can lay claim to being THE drummer for Bone Appetit.
