Posted by Brian Lilley Well hello Brian, Thanks to Carol we have managed to make contact at last. You both seem surprised how I contacted Carol (she emailed me yesterday saying that she had spoken to you), but it was simple, when my emails kept being returned by your newmarketing address I have a number of interesting "bits & pieces" about our Family. Matthais and William's brush with the Law is quite well documented with a couple of newspaper reports, Prison Records and an interview with a Prison Visitor which is retold in a book, "The History of Kempston" where Matthais explains how his Wife and Family were starving, he was unemployed and poaching was the only way he could provide for them. They were convicted of attempted murder due to shooting at the gamekeeper. There was a third member of the poaching gang who escaped and I often wondered if it was another brother?. But a chance discovery of another newspaper article printed some sixty years after they were hanged was to reveal all. Then, what about the "Family Fortune" ?. Well I hope I've whetted your appetite a little ! I will forward you the information as attachments to future emails if I can, but can you let me have your address as it may be easier to send you copies. Could you also let me have a copy of The Australian Family Tree and any relevant information as I would like to add an additional chapter "The Australian Connection" to my Book. Will be in touch again soon Kind regards Brian
