Beryl Patullo from Melbourne has asked for information regarding a James Alfred TURNER who married Mary THOMAS. Apparently James Alfred TURNER was an artist of some note. He went through the Heidelberg School which produced such great artists as Tom Roberts, Frederick McCubbin & Co. Although he came from England James Alfred TURNER is not to be confused with the more famous Joseph TURNER the great English landscape artist even though in this country some of James's paintings were attributed to Joseph. James Turner lived in the Croydon area in Melbourne and the Box Hill Historical Society wants to honour him by naming a building after him. Beryl Patullo and the Historical Society are trying to track down some of his paintings & would be anxious to talk to anyone who has one. It is thought that James TURNER used to give some
of his paintings away as wedding gifts. If anyone has any information could they please email me or Beryl at bpatullo@ozemail.com.au
