His dad had the barber give him a crew cut. The top was probably cut clipper over comb or freehand with a clipper. The top hair appears to be graduated from a little over one inch at the center of the front hairline to about 3/8" at the back of the crown. The sides appear to be tapered down to around #1 blade length(2.4mm=3/32"=5 day's hair growth) at the ears. Medium sideburns extend to the top of the ear orifice.
