When this guy's hair is "gelled" (and I don't like using the word "gelled" because it makes peoples' hair sound like a jello mold), the guy looks a little dangerous, interesting, sophisticated and someone you'd like to give a chance to at least listen to his music (whether you'll like it or not). When his hair is NOT gelled, I think (or thought) this is just another cutesy, teeny bop boy whose music is probably mindless without much to say. Literally, by this guy gelling his hair, to me (and I can't speak for all) he opens up his music to a whole new audience and I doubt he loses that audience to which he first appealed. Your appearance and your hair can make a huge difference in your general appeal to people. - Thank you Dustin and I AM very honored, but more than that...

I am very happy that you have pointed out with your post that a parted slick hair style with a quiff is NOT a style of the past; it is NOT just for old men who are past it and no longer have any sense of modern fashion or trends. It is a great look for young guys of today that want to show style, sophistication, a distinguishment from the masses, and in my opinion - that which is always desirable - sex appeal, handsomeness and even a little hint of danger (just look at the gleam in this guy's eye (and in his hair)!).

I agree 100% with you, Buzzby. Ansell's hair doesn't look outdated or "retro" in that ironic rockabilly sense. This proves that younger guys can successfully wear slicked, quiffed hair and not feel like some sort of throwback.
FWIW, Ansell seems to really like to mess with his hairstyle. This was a shot of him from a couple of years ago, and I've seen at least a couple of others floating around that suggest that his hair back then was pretty "barber classic." Since then, he's clearly been going to a stylist because his hair looks a lot softer and...well, more feminine.

hi folk,
as you maybe know, i am from Berlin, Germany.
here its very difficult to find a barber, who knows how to cut the hair acc. to this slicked look from the 30-40-50th and work with brylcreem and pomade.
thanx god I found one, a young guy, in his beginning 30th i mean, who knows, looks himself as a actor from this time, today I was again for my monthly cut, and he did it with many time and i am completly satisfied,
had tp pay 15 euros for cut and wash... great job.
