We all have known someone or maybe even ourselves that has needed blood. I am asking all of you to take a few minutes to maybe an hour or so to donate Blood, Platelets & other blood products.
I know from my own experience that if someone hadn't donated blood that not only would I not be here today but also my wife. As a child I had major surgery were I bled out(lost almost all my blood) and according to the doctors I flat lined. But thanks to the doctors they were able to bring me back & durning my surgery they used over 20units of blood to keep me alive.
My wife had several major surgeries recently and they used about 25 units of blood on her to keep her alive. So you see if you give you will be saving someones life & possibly someone you know.
If it wasn't for people like myself & the countless others who took the time to donate the blood that was needed neither myself or my wife would be here today. At one time I was considered a Super Donor by the blood bank at one of St Louis's major Hospitals. Over the course of 2.5 yrs I would go in every 2 weeks & give 2 units of Platelets http://www.missouribaptist.org/mbmc_content.aspx?id=1054 & every 60 days I would give a pint of blood. Giving Platelets takes between 1 to 2 hrs and giving blood takes less then 15minutes.
So PLEASE take some time out of your busy day, roll up your sleeve and DONATE the GIFT of LIFE.
